The Electronics & ICT Academy at IIT Roorkee has partnered with SkyySkill Academy to deliver industry‑aligned certification programmes in electric vehicle technology, equipping engineering graduates, diploma holders, and working professionals with practical, job‑ready skills for India’s fast‑growing EV sector.
IIT Roorkee and SkyySkill Join Hands on EV Training
The Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee), through its Electronics & ICT Academy, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with SkyySkill Academy to launch a series of advanced and short‑format certification programmes in Electric Vehicle (EV) technology. The initiative aims to address the growing demand for skilled professionals in India’s electric mobility sector by combining academic depth with hands‑on, industry‑ready training.
The programmes will also be offered under the E&ICT Academy, IIT Roorkee, which operates as a national‑level skill‑development node supported by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India. SkyySkill Academy will provide industry‑linked pedagogy, lab frameworks, and practical exposure, ensuring that the curriculum aligns closely with current EV ecosystem requirements.
Comprehensive EV Technology Curriculum
The jointly developed curriculum covers core technical domains in EV technology, including EV architecture, battery technologies and battery‑management systems (BMS), electric motors and power electronics, EV charging infrastructure, diagnostics, safety systems, and vehicle energy optimisation. The structure is designed to give participants a holistic understanding of the EV stack – from cell‑level components to system‑level integration and operational performance.
The programme also places equal emphasis on academic rigour and practical learning, making it suitable for engineering graduates, diploma holders, and working professionals seeking to specialise in electric mobility. Learners undergo a blended delivery model comprising live online instructional sessions, guided lab‑based exercises, structured assignments, and real‑world capstone projects that simulate actual EV‑industry challenges.
Job‑Ready Skills and Capstone Projects
Participants will engage in hands‑on practical lab exposure focused on EV components, battery packs, motor‑drive systems, and diagnostic tools, allowing them to gain familiarity with the equipment, workflows, and safety protocols used in industry settings. The programme also includes structured assignments that reinforce key concepts in power electronics, battery modelling, and energy‑management strategies.
Each learner will complete a capstone project based on real‑world EV use cases, such as range optimisation, battery‑lifetime prediction, fault‑diagnostics, or charging‑infrastructure integration. The programme designs these projects to help participants demonstrate applied problem‑solving skills and build an industry‑relevant portfolio for roles in EV manufacturing, research and development, maintenance and service ecosystems, and product‑design teams.
Industry–Academia Alignment and Certification
Speaking about the initiative, Prof. Sanjeev Manhas, Chief Investigator of the E&ICT Academy, IIT Roorkee, said the rapid growth of electric mobility demands a workforce with both strong technical foundations and practical expertise. “Through this collaboration with SkyySkill Academy, E&ICT Academy, IIT Roorkee aims to strengthen industry–academia engagement and equip learners with relevant skills to support India’s evolving EV ecosystem,” he said.
Himansu Sekhar Panda, CEO of SkyySkill Academy, stressed the importance of close academic–industry partnerships in preparing talent for emerging technologies. He also highlighted that electric mobility is rapidly reshaping the automotive sector and that the collaboration with E&ICT Academy, IIT Roorkee, will deliver high‑quality, practice‑oriented learning programmes to prepare learners for careers in the EV industry.
Participants who successfully complete the programme and pass the required assessments will receive a certificate from E&ICT Academy, IIT Roorkee, which can support their employability and career progression in the EV sector. The programme is expected to attract thousands of learners across India, drawing on SkyySkill Academy’s existing delivery network and IIT Roorkee’s national reputation in engineering education and research.
Through this partnership, IIT Roorkee and SkyySkill Academy are creating a scalable, curriculum‑driven pathway for India’s workforce to transition into the EV value chain, supporting national goals around clean mobility, advanced manufacturing, and technology‑driven employment.
