The Indian Institute of Technology Ropar has appointed Nikhil Swami as its Public Relations Officer to strengthen its media outreach and elevate the institute’s brand visibility in India and abroad. With over six years of experience in communications, Swami is expected to amplify IIT Ropar’s achievements and institutional narrative through strategic media engagement.

The Indian Institute of Technology Ropar has announced the appointment of Nikhil Swami as its new Public Relations Officer, effective October 2025. The move is part of the institute’s broader effort to enhance its media presence and improve brand visibility among stakeholders, prospective students, and the global academic community.

Nikhil Swami brings more than six years of communications experience, primarily in the government and public sector space. Prior to joining IIT Ropar, he served as Assistant Manager of Corporate Communications at NBCC (India) Limited, where he led comprehensive communication campaigns across print, digital, and social media, significantly boosting the organisation’s public image. Earlier, he worked as a Corporate Communications Executive at NTPC Limited, managing both internal and external communications, media relations, and crisis communication, honing his ability to handle complex messaging environments.

Swami’s professional excellence has been widely recognised. He has received multiple awards, including the IIMCAA PR Person (Jury Special Mention) in 2024, the “Best Rising Communicator” title in March 2023, and the PRCI Chanakya Award for Integrated Brand Communication in 2024. He holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism from the Indian Institute of Mass Communication, Delhi, and a Master’s degree in Mass Communication from Kurukshetra University, giving him a strong foundation in both theory and practice of strategic communication.
