The Chief Minister has already reiterated his unwavering commitment to the AI City in his heartfelt letter addressed to the public. Officials here on Saturday outlined that the AI City will be developed in two distinct phases, ensuring a comprehensive and phased approach to execution. Approximately 60 percent of the total area will be dedicated to the core zone, which will house cutting-edge AI innovation centres, expansive technology parks, and state-of-the-art advanced research facilities designed to foster groundbreaking discoveries. The remaining 40 percent of the area will be thoughtfully developed with modern residential complexes, vibrant commercial zones, and essential social infrastructure to support a thriving community.
The UP government is steadfast in its goal to transform Uttar Pradesh into a USD 1 trillion economy over the next five years. In pursuit of this vision, the IT-ITeS and Artificial Intelligence sectors are being strategically positioned as the key growth engines driving this economic revolution. With this clear objective in mind, the state government plans to develop the AI City in Lucknow under the innovative Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. This approach guarantees a balanced framework that harnesses robust private investment alongside proactive government support, minimizing risks and maximizing efficiency.
The Lucknow AI City will emerge as a dedicated and fully self-reliant technology hub, equipped with world-class amenities. It will feature high-capacity data centres, powerful high-performance computing infrastructure, specialized AI research labs, dynamic startup incubation centres, and contemporary workspaces tailored for global technology companies. The primary objective is to provide unparalleled, world-class facilities to both Indian and international AI companies at a single, seamless location. This will empower them to develop, innovate, and scale their transformative projects at an accelerated pace like never before. The project is being fast-tracked with the explicit aim of positioning Lucknow among the top 20 global AI hubs, putting the city on the international radar.
As the state capital, Lucknow benefits from a robust academic and technological ecosystem, which serves as a significant strength. Prestigious institutions such as IIM Lucknow and IIIT Lucknow are already playing a pivotal role in driving research, sparking innovation, and advancing skill development for the future workforce. IT experts are confident that the AI City will forge close coordination with these esteemed institutions to build a strong, expansive, and future-ready talent pool capable of meeting global demands.
The AI City is poised to generate thousands of high-quality direct and indirect employment opportunities across various domains.
