Container Corporation of India Ltd (CONCOR) announced that Shri Ajit Kumar Panda assumed charge as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) with effect from August 1, 2026. The development follows the superannuation of Shri Sanjay Swarup from the post of CMD on July 31, 2026. The Ministry of Railways, Government of India, originally directed the appointment, and the Board of Directors subsequently formalised it. According to the company’s exchange filing, Panda will serve as CMD until August 31, 2028, the date of his superannuation, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
The transition represents an internal elevation within the organisation. Panda already knows CONCOR’s operations, strategy and challenges from his previous role as Director (Projects & Services). He is a highly familiar face within CONCOR’s corridors, having served as its Director (Projects & Services) since December 2022. His educational background includes a BSc from NIT Rourkela and an M.Tech from IIT Delhi. He is also a two-time recipient of the Railway Minister’s National Award for Outstanding Service. Track record in railways and infrastructure
Before joining CONCOR in a senior leadership role, Panda served as Executive Director for Mechanical Engineering and Project Planning at Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL). That experience gave him exposure to large-scale project management, vendor coordination and time-bound delivery – skills that translate directly to CONCOR’s mandate of building logistics parks, terminals and container freight stations.
