Neetu Yadav and Kirti Jangra turned a weekend idea into Animall, a digital cattle marketplace that helps dairy farmers trade more efficiently.

From roommates to founders

Neetu Yadav and Kirti Jangra did not follow the conventional IIT Delhi path into corporate careers. Instead, the two civil engineering graduates chose to solve a rural problem that had long gone unnoticed in mainstream technology: the difficulty dairy farmers faced in buying and selling cattle. Their idea eventually became Animall, a digital platform that now stands as one of India’s most notable rural tech startups.

The two founders first met as roommates at IIT Delhi and stayed close after graduation. What began as a shared curiosity about building something useful gradually turned into a business idea rooted in India’s livestock economy. In 2019, they started exploring how technology could bring order, transparency and convenience to cattle trading, which still depended heavily on local markets and informal networks.

Solving a rural market gap

Animall was built to make cattle buying and selling easier for dairy farmers. Before the platform, farmers often relied on middlemen, word-of-mouth contacts or nearby market networks to find buyers and sellers. That process made price discovery difficult and limited access to reliable information about available animals.

The startup created an online marketplace where farmers could list cattle for sale and search for animals they wanted to buy. This digital approach widened access to the market and reduced dependence on local intermediaries. Over time, the company also expanded into related services such as animal healthcare, artificial insemination and other support tools for dairy farmers.

Weekend project to startup

Animall did not begin as a heavily funded company. It started as a weekend project in 2019, built around the founders’ observation that India’s cattle market had not yet received the kind of digital attention seen in urban commerce or consumer apps. That simple but practical insight became the foundation for a platform focused on one of India’s oldest and most important livelihood sectors.

As the platform gained traction, more farmers began using it to connect with buyers and sellers. Publicly reported figures suggest that Animall has grown into a large marketplace with a major user base and significant transaction volume. The company’s rise shows how a narrowly focused solution can scale when it solves a persistent, everyday problem.

Valuation and investor confidence

Animall’s growth has attracted investor interest and funding support. The company is reported to have reached a valuation of around Rs 565 crore, reflecting confidence in its business model and its ability to modernise a traditionally fragmented market. That valuation is widely cited as a marker of how far the startup has come from its early days as a small experiment.

The scale of attention around Animall also highlights a larger shift in India’s digital economy. Technology is no longer limited to urban consumers or software-first industries. Investors increasingly recognise the potential of platforms that serve farmers, traders and other rural users with practical, high-impact digital tools.

Engineering beyond engineering

Although Yadav and Jangra trained in civil engineering, their work at Animall shows how technical education can extend far beyond a student’s original discipline. They did not build a startup around bridges, roads or structures. Instead, they used their problem-solving mindset to understand a market inefficiency and design a product around it.

Their story also shows that entrepreneurship does not always begin with a new invention. Sometimes it begins with a better system for organizing an existing activity. In Animall’s case, the founders did not try to replace livestock trade; they tried to make it easier, faster and more accessible for the people who depend on it.

Rural tech with scale

Animall’s trajectory demonstrates the growing importance of rural technology in India. The startup tapped into a large and largely under-digitised sector, where even small improvements in access and transparency can have a big impact on incomes and decision-making. By focusing on cattle transactions, the founders addressed a market that directly shapes dairy livelihoods across the country.

Their success also carries a broader message for young innovators: useful ideas do not always emerge from glamorous sectors. They can come from observing an ordinary, stubborn problem and building a practical solution around it. That is exactly what Animall represents—a digital response to a deeply rooted rural challenge.
