The Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) at the prestigious Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) is set to organize the fifth cohort – specifically Cohort V – of its highly regarded ‘Nurturing Future Leadership Program’ (NFLP), a transformative initiative generously supported and funded by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. This intensive five-day residential program will unfold from March 16th through March 20th, 2026, conveniently hosted on the expansive IIM Bangalore campus located along Bannerghatta Road, providing an immersive environment conducive to deep learning and reflection.
Leading this cohort as Programme Director is the esteemed Prof. Sushanta K. Mishra, who holds multiple pivotal leadership roles at IIMB. These include serving as Chairperson of the Centre for Teaching & Learning, overseeing Research & Publications as well as the C-DOCTA initiative, acting as Editor-in-Chief of the influential IIMB Management Review publication, and contributing as a core faculty member in the Organizational Behavior & Human Resources Management academic area. Under his guidance, the program promises a rigorous yet enriching experience tailored for academic professionals.
Comprehensive Programme Objectives and Structure
At its core, this residential program is meticulously designed to empower faculty members who are navigating the nascent phases of their academic careers, equipping them with the essential tools, mindsets, and competencies required to emerge as influential and effective leaders within their institutions. Participants will delve into a multifaceted curriculum that explores critical dimensions of leadership excellence, featuring an engaging and diverse array of sessions. These will encompass in-depth discussions and practical explorations centered on vital themes such as self-management techniques for sustained personal efficacy, various leadership styles and their contextual applications, strategic planning methodologies for long-term institutional success, advanced strategies for effective communication in diverse stakeholder environments, proactive change management frameworks to navigate organizational transitions, and additional pertinent topics that address contemporary challenges in higher education.
To ensure a well-rounded developmental journey, the daily schedule incorporates five dynamic sessions, expertly facilitated by seasoned IIMB faculty members. Delivery methods are varied and interactive, including thought-provoking lectures (supplemented by insightful video-based content), hands-on in-class activities to reinforce learning through application, immersive case study discussions drawn from real-world academic leadership scenarios, and even curated movie sessions that illustrate leadership principles through cinematic narratives. Complementing the intellectual rigor, the program thoughtfully integrates holistic wellness elements such as dedicated yoga sessions for physical vitality, mindfulness practices for mental clarity and resilience, and opportunities for cultural immersion to broaden perspectives and foster interpersonal connections. Upon satisfactory completion of all components, attendees will be awarded a formal Certificate of Participation, serving as a testament to their enhanced leadership capabilities.
Detailed Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility for this program is targeted at dedicated full-time faculty members currently employed across a spectrum of higher education institutions in India. This includes professionals from centrally funded institutes (such as those under national government patronage), state public universities and affiliated institutes, as well as private Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) that meet recognition standards.
It is important to highlight the nomination priorities outlined in the Ministry of Education’s official guidelines, which ensure equitable representation. Approximately 50 percent of the total available seats will be reserved with first preference for faculty hailing from Centrally Funded Institutions (CFIs), recognizing their strategic role in national academic advancement. The subsequent preference tier will accommodate faculty from state public universities, while a limited allocation of two to four seats will be extended to deserving candidates from private HEIs, promoting inclusivity across the higher education landscape.
Step-by-Step Registration Process
Prospective participants from eligible and recognized institutions are required to secure formal nomination from their respective institutional heads – such as Directors, Vice Chancellors, or other designated Heads of the Institution – prior to applying.

Once nominated, eligible faculty should proceed to the dedicated MMTTC (likely referring to the Management & Management Training & Certification portal or a similar official platform) online portal, where they must upload the official nomination letter as a critical step in the registration workflow. This structured process underscores the program’s commitment to institutional endorsement and ensures a curated cohort of motivated academic leaders ready to drive meaningful change.
Eligible faculty members from recognized institutions should be duly nominated by the Directors/Vice Chancellors/Heads of the Institution and should upload the nomination letter on the MMTTC portal (https://mmc.ugc.ac.in/).
